Paul Jones flourished 1855-1888.He was a painter of sporting scenes,very often of game dogs.He was an enthusiastic terrier man,depicting them rabbiting or chasing cats and rats.Included amongst his works are a number of sporting scenes.He is thought to be the son of John Egbert Jones.His works are known for their small dimensions and his careful attention to detail. ‘A Young Boy with Two Setters’ signed oil on panel ,indistinctly dated ,image size 18.5x14 cms framed size 29x24.5 cms,provenance: private collection Cumbria,Christie’s lot 355 14 th June 2001
