Arts and Crafts pottery refers to decorative ceramic items produced from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, emphasising handcrafted quality, natural motifs, and traditional craftsmanship over mass production.

These pieces were typically crafted from local stoneware clays, finished with salt-glazes or specialized coloured slips, and hand-decorated using incised or tube-lined patterns.

Authentic pieces generally feature impressed factory maker marks, artist or decorator monograms on the underside, and characteristic weight and glaze variations consistent with early 20th-century production methods.

Display them as standalone sculptural objects on a mantelpiece or bookshelf, or pair them with minimalist dried botanicals to highlight their historic texture and form.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid submerging in water or using chemical cleaning agents, particularly if the piece has porous unglazed areas or delicate painted decoration.
