Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Berlin porcelain of the 19th century, produced by factories such as KPM (Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur), is distinguished by fine hard-paste porcelain, precise hand-painted enamelling, detailed gilding, and Classical or Neo-Rococo sculptural elements such as relief swags, masks, and floral finials.

These urns were constructed from kaolin-based hard-paste porcelain clay, slip-cast or hand-moulded in sections, and fired at high temperatures. Decorators applied enamel colours by hand in multiple stages, followed by gilding and subsequent low-temperature firings to fuse the embellishments to the glazed surface.

Authentic pieces generally feature factory marks painted or impressed under the glaze on the base, such as the scepter mark used by KPM Berlin. Collectors also look for refined moulding quality, sharp detail on sculpted handles, smooth glaze, and superior hand-painted enamel artistry.

A pair of large porcelain urns can be displayed symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or fireplace mantel to create a balanced focal point. Placing them against neutral backgrounds or within contemporary rooms creates a refined visual contrast between historical craftsmanship and modern lines.

Clean porcelain items using a soft brush or a dry microfibre cloth to clear dust from intricate mouldings. Avoid immersing pieces with overglaze gilding or enamel in water or using abrasive chemicals, as detergent can degrade delicate painted highlights.
