Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Bedside cabinets, or commodes de chevet, became prominent in French interior design during the 18th and 19th centuries, often featuring stone tops for practical hygiene and durability.

These pieces typically combine solid woods and veneers such as walnut, mahogany, or fruitwood, accented with marble slabs and cast brass or bronze mounts.

Authenticity is determined by hand-cut joinery, traditional timber shrinkage, natural patination on the hardware, and the specific geological characteristics of the marble insert.

They serve as functional anchor pieces beside a bed or as accent tables in a living space, contrasting effectively against minimalist or contemporary decor.

Maintain the timber with appropriate wax polish and protect the stone surface from acidic liquids to prevent permanent staining and etching.
