A late 19thC pair of French brass candlesticks c1880. The candlesticks are cast in quite heavy brass, a mark of quality, on square bases with lions paw feet. They are ornately decorated with fleur de lys, acanthus leaves, shells, and fluting, rising to fixed sconces and drip pans. A delightful and rare detail is the sun ray designs beneath the drip pans. The pair are rather magnificent in their way.
