Art Nouveau Porcelain Cornucopia vase by Ernst Wahliss, Vienna beautifully hand painted with exquisite flower patterns that are evident from both sides. On vase’s porcelain is applied a kind of unglazed terracotta clay on top which flows to the bottom. The edge and top of the vase is decorated with painted gilt and overlaid with a circle pattern. The piece has been handcrafted to perfection. The base marked in blue with company crown and ‘Depose EW Turn Wien Made in Austria’ that dates this piece to the end of 19th century. Ernst Wahliss was born in 1836. He was a leading Vienna retailer in porcelain and ceramic goods. His Vienna store was established in 1863. His business was so successful that he was able to open another stores in major European cities such as London and to supply many of the European royal families in ceramics of the highest quality.
