This is a Georgian, English, single series opaque twist sweetmeat glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1760. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot. The glass has a double ogee-shaped bowl measuring 8.3 cm (3.3 inches) in diameter at the dentated rim. The bowl sits on a single series opaque twist stem consisting of an expanded gauze. The stem ends in a panel-moulded foot which measures 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 7.7 cm (3.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is an old collector''s sticker on the underside of the foot.Lead glass weighing in at 170 g.
