This is a small, French, Maurice Marinot (1882-1960) hand-enamelled glass vase dating from the beginning of the 20th century, somewhere between c1911-1923 when he stopped using enamels. The Art Deco style of the design would suggest that it was decorated towards the end of this period. The same, or a very similar vase was sold at Hartley''s Auctions in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, UK on 24th March 2021, lot 127.
The vase is in excellent condition. It shows minimal age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with use. It has a polished out pontil mark to the base.
The vase is in the baluster form with a turned over rim and is hand-decorated in polychrome enamels. The vase measures 11.3 cm (4.5 inches) in diameter at the upper rim. It is 14.7 cm (5.9 inches) in height. The vase is signed M?rinot'' to the underside of the small, conical foot. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 380 g. (~
...13 oz.).
