Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Opalescent glass produced during the Art Deco era is a type of decorative pressed or blown glass treated with chemical additives such as fluorine or bone ash. When cooled unevenly, the glass develops a translucent, milky appearance that changes colour depending on the direction and intensity of light.

These bowls were created using mould-pressing techniques where molten glass was forced into metal moulds under pressure to form intricate relief designs. After forming, the glass underwent specific reheating processes to develop opalescence before being hand-finished or acid-etched.

Authentic pieces generally feature moulded or wheel-cut signatures such as R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Look for sharp relief details, substantial weight, fine finish quality, and characteristic fiery blue or amber refraction within the opalescent zones.

Place the bowl on a dark wood sideboard, marble console, or near natural light sources to emphasize its translucent properties. It functions as a standalone decorative focal point or as a table centerpiece.

Wash the glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes that could cause thermal shock. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive pads.
