Rare Art Nouveau Glass Inkwell, by Kralik or Loetz, Circa 1900

Description

An extremely rare glass inkwell in the Art Pottery or Art Nouveau style, made in Bohemia either by the famed Loetz factory or their main rival, Wilhelm Kralik.

Of a well-balanced design, the rich and vibrant iridescent metallic glass has an organic web of pulled glass trailing. The cast brass collar and lid are well-patinated, the latter having an engraved stylized lotus design. The original clear glass ink container is in position.

The inside of the lid bears makers or registration marks: "O.E.P. 10385/ R.G.M. ????" (see photos).

Excellent original condition (slight chips to the top of the ink reservoir). Circa 1900

This wonderful piece has been in my own collection for thirty-plus years.
