Late 19th-century Victorian decanters often featured heavy lead crystal construction, geometric cutting, and distinctive square or panelled shapes designed to fit securely in tantalus frames or cellarettes.

Clean them gently using warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives or sudden temperature changes. To remove internal residue, use specialized non-scratch cleaning beads rather than harsh chemical solvents.

They can be displayed on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving to introduce textural sparkle, classic symmetry, and historical character into a room.

Authentic pieces often exhibit ground and polished pontil marks on the base, minor wear consistent with age, hand-cut facets with slight irregularities, and matching numbered stoppers ground specifically to fit each neck.

These pieces were typically crafted from heavy flint glass or lead crystal, shaped using traditional glassblowing and mould-blowing techniques, and hand-finished with wheel-cut facets and polished stoppers.
