The Georgian style spans the reigns of the four British kings named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a transition from heavy, dark woods to more refined, classical proportions inspired by Palladian architecture.

Maintain stable relative humidity and protect the timber from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting and fading, occasionally feeding the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.

Integrating period wooden furniture into modern spaces creates textural contrast; style it against neutral walls to highlight the deep grain of the wood while using the interior shelves to display curated ceramics or glassware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, hand-forged or cast brass fittings, and old secondary woods like pine or oak at the back and interior.

Cabinet makers predominantly used solid timber frames with rich veneers such as mahogany, incorporating dovetail joints, brass hardware, and intricate inlaid stringing or marquetry.
