A charming early 19th century vernacular elm and pine coffer / chest of small proportions.
The iron-hinged elm lid sits above a pine body terminating in arched legs.
Lots of knock and bumps throughout and signs of historic woodworm (fully treated in abundance of caution). Later lock plate. The elm lid has a warp which means it is lifted slightly to one side when closed.
A delightful little piece that is full of character.
