Historismus refers to the 19th-century revivalist art movement in Central Europe, particularly prominent from the mid-to-late 19th century, which drew inspiration from Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque styles.

These pieces were typically crafted from mouth-blown coloured or amber glass, decorated by hand using opaque and metallic-coloured enamels fired at high temperatures to fuse with the glass surface.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-mixed enamel pigments with slight irregularities, wear consistent with age on the base, pontil marks from the glassblowing process, and historical motifs characteristic of the late 19th-century revival periods.

Antique glass can be displayed on open shelving, sideboards, or mantels to add historical depth and rich amber tones, contrasting effectively against minimalist or modern backdrops.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh scrubbing or soaking to protect the fragile enamelled surface from degradation.
