Eighteenth-century drinking glasses evolved significantly during the Georgian era, moving from heavy baluster stems to lighter, slender plain, air twist, and opaque twist stems, often featuring wheel-engraved Jacobite or commemorative motifs.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass, known for its high refractive index and weight, and were hand-blown and shaped by skilled glassmakers using traditional iron pontil rods.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as a rough snapped pontil mark on the base, minor wear scratches known as foot wear, microscopic air bubbles trapped within the metal, and subtle surface irregularities from hand crafting.

Displaying antique stemware within glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or styled bar carts adds historical depth and texture to contemporary living spaces.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth, and kept away from extreme temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight.
