Victorian cut glass decanters are characterised by heavy-lead crystal bodies featuring intricate geometric patterns, fluting, and star-burst motifs, reflecting the industrial advancement and decorative tastes of the 19th century.

These vessels were typically crafted from heavy flint glass or lead crystal, mouth-blown into moulds or free-blown, and then hand-cut on a wheel with polished facets and matching ground glass stoppers.

Authenticity is indicated by heavy weight due to high lead content, hand-polished pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, and matching numbered or ground stoppers unique to the neck.

Display the decanter on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving to catch the light, either as a standalone sculptural object or grouped with other crystal glassware for functional elegance.

Wash by hand using warm water and a mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives and sudden temperature changes. Use specialized cleaning beads and a bottle brush for interior residue, and store with the stopper slightly ajar to prevent sticking.
