A gimmel flask is a double-chambered vessel originating in the 17th and 18th centuries, traditionally used by travellers to carry two different liquids, such as water and spirits, in a single pocket-sized container.

These flasks were typically hand-blown from lead glass or potash glass, featuring applied glass threads, wheel engraving, and interlocking or conjoined dual chambers formed by skilled glassblowers.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-specific characteristics such as pontil marks on the base, minor glass imperfections, hand-cut engraving styles, and the specific wear patterns consistent with genuine age.

An antique glass flask can be displayed prominently on a mantelpiece, inside a glass-fronted cabinet, or on a desk where natural light can pass through the clear glass to highlight its unique silhouette and historical craftsmanship.

Antique glass should be kept away from direct sunlight and sudden temperature fluctuations. Cleaning should be done strictly by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing or chemical cleaners.
