Bohemian glass originates from the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, now part of the Czech Republic, renowned globally since the late Middle Ages for exceptional craftsmanship, high-quality crystal, and innovative staining and engraving techniques.

Master artisans traditionally utilised potash-lime glass combined with natural minerals such as silver, gold, and copper to achieve rich colours like amber and ruby, followed by hand-cutting, wheel-engraving, or acid-etching intricate surface details.

Authentic pieces often exhibit slight irregularities, hand-polished pontil marks on the base, deep colour saturation throughout the glass body rather than a surface coating, and crisp, hand-executed wheel engravings rather than machine-moulded seams.

Display antique glassware grouped by colour within glass-fronted cabinets, on open shelving with backlighting to accentuate the stained tones, or curated on a drinks trolley to introduce textural contrast and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Wash antique glass exclusively by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh scrubbing, and never submerge items with gilded or enamelled accents for extended periods.
