Art Nouveau design is characterised by organic motifs, fluid asymmetrical lines, and natural forms inspired by plants and flowers, which gained prominence in the late 19th century.

Trailed glass is produced by applying molten glass threads to the exterior of a blown vessel while it is still hot, then manipulating the pattern through combing or tooling before final shaping.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base from hand-blowing, distinct colour variations within the glass matrix, and specific maker signatures or stylistic traits consistent with documented manufactories of the period.

These decorative objects can be displayed on mantelpieces or sideboards where natural light passes through the transparent coloured glass, highlighting the intricate trailed patterns and historical craftsmanship.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using tepid water and a mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing agents or sudden temperature changes to protect the fragile structure and historical surface.
