Strawberry Hill in Twickenham (south-west of London) is Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic-revival architecture. It was purchased in 1747 by Horace Walpole (son of the first Prime Minister) who proceeded to transform it into his vision of a “little Gothic Castle”. It is now owned by the Strawberry Hill Trust, and following restoration, is now open to the public.
