The World is Made of Glass Ltd. has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age.
The decanter has been blown in pale green lightly ribbed glass. The decanter measures 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) across at the base which carries the very neat polished out pontil mark associated with this maker. The decanter is 13.5 cm (5.4 inches) in height without the stopper, and 18.5 cm (7.4 inches) tall with the stopper inserted. The stopper is a flattened spire with embellishments and is almost certainly the original. The same stopper can be seen on a shaft and globe decanter from the same maker on page 74 of the book "Whitefriars Glass James Powell & Sons of London" by Wendy Evans, Catherine Ross and Alex Werner. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
Lead glass weighing in at 300 g. (~ 11 oz.).
