Georgian silver produced during the reigns of the Georges is characterised by classical proportions, refined ornamentation, and high craftsmanship, transitioning from early Rococo exuberance to later Neoclassical restraint.

These items were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as piercing, casting, and hand-engraving, often paired with blown cobalt blue glass liners to hold loose condiments.

Authentic pieces feature clear hallmarks stamped into the metal, including the makers mark, the town mark such as the leopards head for London, the lion passant for sterling standard, and a date letter corresponding to the assay year.

They can be utilised as sophisticated catch-alls on a dressing table, incorporated into a dining table display, or showcased inside a glass-fronted cabinet to add metallic texture and historic contrast to contemporary spaces.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using a gentle, non-abrasive polish specifically formulated for antiques, while the glass liners can be washed separately in warm soapy water and dried thoroughly to prevent moisture accumulation.
