Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Cocktail cabinets gained immense popularity during the interwar period and the mid-20th century, evolving specifically to cater to the rise of home entertaining and the cocktail culture of the 1920s and 1930s.

These pieces typically feature a solid wood carcase veneered in highly figured burr walnut, showcasing complex grain patterns, and are frequently fitted with brass or gilt hardware and internal mirrored serving surfaces.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain for natural irregularity in the burr veneer, checking for period-appropriate joinery such as dovetailing in the internal drawers, and inspecting the patination on the hardware.

An antique drinks cabinet serves as a sophisticated focal point in a contemporary living space, contrasting sharply against minimalist walls or paired with mid-century and eclectic furnishings to add warmth and texture.

Preservation requires keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the veneer from drying and cracking, maintaining stable indoor humidity, and treating the surface periodically with quality beeswax.
