Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Antique crystal should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid dishwashers and harsh scrubbing to protect the delicate hand-applied gold leaf from wearing away.

These items can be displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet, used as tablescape accents on a sideboard top, or styled on a bar cart to introduce historical texture and reflective metallic highlights to a contemporary setting.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as minor surface wear on the gilding, pontil marks on the underside of the base, subtle weight variations due to high lead content, and period-appropriate engraving styles.

These items are crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, shaped using traditional glassblowing and free-blown or mold-blown techniques, then finished with hand-cutting, wheel-engraving, and fire-gilding.

Mid-19th-century glassware typically features intricate wheel-engraved motifs combined with hand-applied gold leaf or gilding along the rims, bases, and stems, reflecting the ornate tastes of the Victorian era.
