George II 8 Day Laquer Longcase Clock

A superb early Georgian Laquer cased clock, by Joseph Medley of Boston. The clock is in a typical early georgian case of elegant proportions with a plinth base, long trunk door with a lenticle bulls eye glass. The hood is of typical pagoda top form with frieses of blind fretwork, atop all are three gilded flambeau urns. The dial is gilded brass with a silvered chapter ring and seconds subsidiary, the dial is sparcely engraved, and has finely cast baroque spandrels. The movement is a good quality 8 day movement. The case retains completely the original black and gold laquer showing scenes of the chinese taste. The maker is a well recorded early eighteenth century maker Joseph Medley from the Lincolnshire town of Boston, which at the time was a thriving and prosperous port.

The clock is a superb example of an early eighteenth century longcase laquer clock, which remains in original condition. The clock has been cleaned and is in full working order and is guarenteed fully genuine.
