Lacemaker''s or open flame lamp with large ovoid reservoir, strong plain stem and domed and folded foot. English lead glass. English c1760.
Reservoir dia: 11 cm.
Foot dia: 10 cm.
Condition: Very good with no chips or cracks. There is a small rough piece of glass attached to the outside of the body. This was probably caused by touching another glass during annealing leaving a small piece of glass on the surface. See photo number 3 for an magnified image.
Note: Although often referred to as lacemaker’s lamps, these lamps were used for general lighting and fuelled by vegetable or whale oil.
