Condition Report:
This is a charming rustic antique English Georgian elm trunk, which retains its original lock and steel handles, boasting a lovely mellow colour, with ample storage space inside, circa 1820, in good original condition. Owing to its rustic / provincial provenance, there are old use marks visible to the top (see photos) and leading edges; all of which adds to the character, age and appeal of this Georgian trunk. Evidence of historical woodworm, which has been thoroughly treated. Please note, it was common for nearly all elm furniture of this age to have signs of historical woodworm, as this was a susceptible timber. The Georgian elm trunk has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard. The Georgian elm trunk lid retains its original working steel lock and key. The interior is clean, dry, and usable and retains its original candle box. The original steel strap hinges and original steel side carrying handle are in good working condition. The trunk retains its original lid, sides and back. The Georgian trunk is solid in joint; it does not wobble on the floor and is ready to use.
