Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating as low, cushioned seating inspired by traditional Ottoman Empire furniture, European country house ottomans evolved during the nineteenth century into substantial, upholstered footstools or low tables used in drawing rooms and libraries.

Traditional ottomans were constructed with solid hardwood frames, typically walnut or mahogany, fitted with turned or carved legs on brass castors, and upholstered over hand-tied coil springs using natural webbing and horsehair.

Authentic nineteenth and early twentieth-century frames feature solid hardwood joinery, hand-carved or turned legs, original brass socket or cup castors, and evidence of traditional upholstery techniques along the lower frame.

A large upholstered ottoman can serve as a central coffee table alternative when topped with a flat tray, positioned in front of a seating arrangement, or placed at the foot of a bed to provide secondary seating.

Vacuum upholstery regularly using a soft brush attachment to prevent dust build-up, spot-clean fabrics with specialised textile cleaners, and apply natural beeswax to the carved wooden legs to protect the timber.
