Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth or gentle specialised polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip away desirable historical patina.

Vintage silver items can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used on sideboards as decorative accents, or incorporated into curated tabletop displays to add historic texture.

Authentic pieces typically feature makers stamps, guild hallmarks, or initials, alongside hand-worked surface textures that distinguish them from machine-pressed manufacturing.

Craft guilds primarily utilised sterling silver, copper, and brass, employing hand-hammering, repousse, and chasing techniques to create unique items with visible artisan marks.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century, promoting handcraftsmanship, traditional techniques, and social reform in response to industrial mass production.
