Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The good quality case is veneered in beautifully figured mahogany with ebony detailing. The hood is nicely carved and has smart ebonised columns with gilt brass corinthian capitals. The top is mounted by 3 brass ball finials. The trunk door has retained its original lock and key and it stands on its original bracket feet.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart painted dial. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. To the arch is a dial displaying the phase of the moon.
The case is in good original condition and is a nice colour.
