19th Century Romanian Hand Painted Marriage Chest

* Northern Romanian Carpathian late 19th Century 1890-1900

* Totally hand painted to interior and exterior

The most wonderful completely Hand Painted Marriage Chest, originating from the Carpathian Area of Northern Romania and dating from the 19th Century. These chests were given often by the new Husband to his Wife on their Wedding Day or sometimes given as a Dowry Chest.

This particular chest is very special in that the wonderfully hand painted decoration is applied not only to the exterior but also to the interior as well. The Chest is completely original with no apparent repairs or replacements. A great piece of beautiful and ornate storage.
