19th Century English Regency Mahogany Bookcase (attributed To Gillows)

A Fine Quality English Regency Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase, Attributed to Gillows.
This excellent piece is of breakfront form and of excellent low waisted proportions, the upper section consisting of various adjustable shelves behind four glazed doors with diamond shaped astragal glazing bar patterns. The bookcase is supported on a plinth base with cupboard sections with further adjustable shelves. The quality of timber, construction and proportions is reminiscent of the work of Gillows of Lancaster and London. The timber has acquired a fine patination and beautiful colour.
A lovely piece of regency case furniture.
