Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 19th-century Regency glazed bookcases typically feature clean architectural proportions, fine timber veneers, and decorative astragal glazing bars on upper display doors. They often incorporate lower cupboards or drawers, functioning as both storage and display furniture for private libraries.

Craftsmen primarily utilised mahogany veneers laid over oak or pine carcases, accompanied by hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers. Glazed doors feature thin wooden glazing bars framing individual glass panes, often secured with traditional putty and brass fittings.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn wood marks on back panels, slight irregularities in hand-blown glass panes, and hand-cut dovetail joints. Original brassware, natural patina around handles, and a two-section construction where the upper cabinet rests on the lower base also indicate genuine period construction.

Anchor a living space or dining room by using the upper glazed cabinet to display structured ceramic collections, books, or glassware alongside modern art pieces. The dark timber offers a grounding contrast against neutral walls or minimalist contemporary decor.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice a year along the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent timber movement, warping, or veneer lift.
