Eighteenth-century wine glasses typically feature thick lead metal composition, distinctive stem formations such as air twists or incised twists, and often exhibit tool marks or pontil scars on the underside of the foot.

These drinking vessels were produced using potash-lime or lead glass formulations, shaped by free-blowing into moulds, and finished with applied conical feet often showing rough snapped pontil marks.

Authentic items display characteristics such as weight from lead content, wear scratches on the foot rim, fine striations or bubbles within the metal matrix, and handmade irregularities consistent with pre-industrial production methods.

Displaying historical stemware inside a glazed cabinet or upon a dedicated surface highlights the craftsmanship while protecting the delicate glass structure from accidental impact in contemporary spaces.

Preservation requires hand washing in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature shifts that cause thermal shock, and storing them upright on stable, padded surfaces.
