Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

Not much is known about this device, save that it is clockwork and wound up (key included). Then one assumes it is hung from a hook above a heat source with the cooking pot hanging from the hook underneath. The clockwork mechanism rotates the pot to ensure the contents are evenly cooked.

Made of polished brass this has been kept for many years as a curio by its previous owner. It has an octagonal plate to the base with the "Salter 25" trademark stamp.
