Oak Carved Coffer

18th century
Description

A superb example of a solid oak coffer with the carved date of 1717. It is of frame and panel construction on raised feet with decorative floral and Celtic style carvings at the front. Along with the carved date of 1717 it also has the initials "MB". Wonderful old wax patina. There are signs of age, various small knocks and marks as can be expected for its age, but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and is ready for use.
