Hedley Wilson has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The 13" break arch eight day movement has a rolling moon automaton, and a centre sweep date indicator hand. The dial also has a subsidiary dial for the seconds and an engraved cartouche for Simcock, Liverpool.
It is unusually small, standing 84" high, including the ball and eagle finial.
