Rare Pair Antique Richardson Turquoise Wine Glasses C1840

Technical Description
 
A truly superb pair of 19th century Turquoise wine glasses. They have ribbed ogee bowls above large shoulder blade and ball knop stems. Conical feet with polished pontils. Made by Richardson and Sons in different colours and are now very difficult to find.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 12.7cm Bowl diameter: 6.1cm Foot diameter: 6.7cm.
 
Comments
 
The ribbed design can be seen in a number of different Richardson designs from this period as well as finger bowls and serving bottles, however, wine glasses in this form and are exceptionally rare and outside a set we sold a few years back we were unable to find any documented examples in our library or online. We have three different examples from the same collection, in three different colours of various sizes.
