A good quality Biedermeier Grande Sonnerie Vienna Regulator wall clock, circa 1855.
 
The beautifully figured rosewood case inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing, surmounted with the original carved cresting and matching carving to the base.
 
The finely patinated case of excellent colour of the five light design (glazed and separated into five sections) with the shaped front door flanked by rounded columns, capped with carved corinthian capitals, detailed work to the lower and upper section of the door.
 
The edges of all the glazing precisely highlighted by the boxwood stringing, the figured rosewood backboard with panel effect created by the boxwood stringing.
 
The perfect condition two piece enamelled dial with bold Roman numerals surrounded to the outer edge with a finely cast pie crust bezel.
 
The fine quality fully restored eight day duration Grande Sonnerie triple train movement of the highest quality striking on two blued steel curled gongs, with deadbeat escapement - fine quality wheel work and pinions throughout.
 
Finely fretted blued steel hands.
 
Polished brass cased weights, with ornate spoked pulleys, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with ebonised wooden rod, original winding key.
 
A beautifully made clock of elegant proportions typical of the Biedermeier period, in fine original condition.
 
This type of Viennese regulator wall clock were entirely hand made by a time served master clockmaker and were only made for the most discerning customers and took many months to complete individually.
