Good Regency Period Longcase Long Case Regulator

19th century
Description

A very smart longcase regulator by Benjamin Russell of Norwhich, He is listed as working there from 1812.

The good quality case is in highly figured mahogany with nice beaded detail.

The good quality regulator movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a dead beat escapement and a very heavy pendulum with wooden rod and large regulating nut. The silvered dial is signed for the maker, it has fine spade hands and a large subsidiary seconds dial. There is a strike silent selector at 12 o'clock.

The case is in excelent condition and a lovely colour.

The movement looks like it has recently serviced, is in good working order and keeping good time.
