18th Cent Mahogany Longcase Long Case Grandfather Clock

18th century
Description

A handsome late 18th Cent longcase clock by William Budgen, Croyden, Surrey. He is listed as working there from 1750 to 1824

The case is in well figured mahogany and has all the features of a London clock of the period:

- Slim trunk with moulded edge to the door

- Double plinth base

- 5 Pillar movement

- Brass cased weights and all brass pendulum

The good quality 5 pillar movement has a smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring, gilt spandrels, subsidiary seconds dial and date indecator (not working)

The case is in good condition, is a lovely colour and has retained its original finish. The trunk door has a working lock and key. Being an antique it does have the odd mark associated with age and use.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
