A fine example of a late 19th century French faux tortoise shell and cut brass inlaid Boulle mantel clock in the Louis XV style.
The fine quality Boulle work of red faux shell veneer delicately inlaid with shaped cut brass and mounted with beautifully cast original gilded ormolu mounts.
The stylish Rococo shape case with glazed front revealing the original gilded sunburst pendulum. The interior also decorated with Boulle work to the inside of the rear door and a Trompe-l''oeil effect to the floor. The sides further decorated with fine boulle work.
The decorative pressed gilt dial with 12 individual enamel cartouches with blue Roman numerals.
The fully restored high quality eight day French movement, striking the hours and half hour on a cast steel steel bell of excellent tone. Movement stamped A&N and numbered 13088 and the pendulum with the same numbering.
Blued steel hands of gothic design
