Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This patinated bronze chandelier dates from the Victorian period and exemplifies the gentleman's library style. The construction combines bronze and brass materials with a dark bronze colour and a waxed finish. The design incorporates five curved, reeded scroll arms ending in downward-facing bell shades, supported by an ornate fluted central stem and a decorative urn finial at the base. Visible details include a decorative ceiling canopy, cast scrollwork on the central column, and a uniform dark metallic sheen across all metal components. The piece measures 58 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 47 cm deep. Suitable for interior lighting applications, this ceiling light fits well in a living room, dining room, or hallway setting. The fixture provides downward illumination through its six lamp positions, making it practical for ambient or task lighting over tables or open floor areas. The installation hangs from a vertical suspension rod secured to the ceiling mount. The patinated metal surface coordinates with traditional architectural schemes and antique furnishings in domestic environments.

FAQs

Chandeliers from the Victorian and Edwardian periods often feature heavy cast bronze or brass construction, classical ornamentation such as reeding and fluting, and multi-arm arrangements designed to diffuse light evenly across high-ceilinged rooms.

These fixtures were predominantly crafted using solid cast bronze or brass, finished with chemical patination to achieve dark, antiqued tones, and paired with spun metal or frosted glass shade holders.

Authentic period pieces exhibit substantial physical weight, hand-finished or chased metalwork detail, natural oxidation in crevices, and historically accurate fittings such as threaded gas-pipe connections or early screw-terminal wiring paths.

A bronze chandelier can be suspended above a dining table, kitchen island, or central hallway to introduce historical structure and tactile contrast within modern minimalist or neutral interior schemes.

Dust the metal surfaces regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid abrasive chemical cleaners that strip the protective aged patina, and apply a thin layer of microcrystalline wax annually to protect the surface finish.
