Fusee Dial Railway Wall Clock, Excellent Condition, N.e.r, Rare

1900 - 1920
Sold by Clockwise
Description

For your enjoyment I am proud to offer this twelve inch diameter dial authentic and genuine Victorian North Eastern Railway fusee clock, with provenance.

This quality English chain-driven fusee movement has been fully overhauled and is in excellent condition, the movement having rectangular plates with screwed pillars.

The mahogany case has fantastic colour and patination since its restoration and the lower case retains its stabilising hooks. There are inspection doors to each side of the back box and the lower door has its fully working original lock and key.

Supplied to the N.ER circa 1900, the original twelve inch dial is in excellent unrestored condition; it was repainted post 1948 by the clock workshops at Doncaster and now displays BR NE 5301. Original spade hands and a spun bezel complete the appearance of this rare and handsome piece. The LNER clock records show this clock as last in use at Newcastle Forth Station Goods Agents Office and that it was originally N.E.R clock number 1227. The rear of the case has Worksop AM in black crayon so it might have ended up there briefly before being sold by British Rail at Collectors Corner. The clock comes complete with a large fusee winding key and a copy of the LNER clock record.

This is a stunning and rare clock in gorgeous condition and comes with my three year guarantee as standard. More railway clocks are being added to my stocklist over the coming months.

Rather than trusting a courier of any sort I recommend collection or I can deliver regionally/nationally. I do use Royal Mail as a courier and post nationally so this tracked and insured service is available, please enquire for a quote. All antique clocks require delicate handling and specific setting up so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own but this redoubtable clock will be straightforward to set up for the client. I am always available for a video chat should there be any problems.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
