The George II period spans from 1727 to 1760 and is characterised by a transition from the simpler, restrained lines of Queen Anne design to more exuberant Rococo influences, featuring asymmetrical scrolls, shell motifs, and substantial weight.

These items are typically crafted from sterling grade silver, adhering to British hallmarking standards of the era. They were often hand-raised from flat sheets of silver, with cast handles and feet soldered securely to the main body.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a date letter corresponding to the assay year, the lion passant for sterling standard, and a town mark such as the leopards head for London.

These reflective pieces can be displayed on a sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet to add metallic texture, or repurposed on a dining table as small floral vessels or receptacles for condiments.

Antique silver should be washed infrequently using a mild, non-abrasive soap and warm water, dried thoroughly with a soft cloth, and polished sparingly with specialised silver cloth to avoid wearing down raised details or hallmarks.
