Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Early Victorian silver often features a revival of rococo and baroque motifs, characterised by elaborate repousse work, scrolling foliage, and substantial weight following the industrial advancements of the mid-19th century.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver (.925 standard), often hand-raised from sheet metal or cast in sections, with insulated handle pins made from bone, ivory, or wood to prevent heat transfer.

Authenticity is verified through British hallmark stamps, which include the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and the specific date letter corresponding to the assay year.

It can be displayed as a striking centrepiece on a sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet, contrasting against dark woods or textured surfaces to highlight its reflective metallic finish.

To preserve the patina, clean infrequently using a dedicated non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips, and store in a low-humidity environment away from direct sunlight.
