This large white opal glass vase exemplifies the Vienna Secessionist style of the 1910 period, executed in the Ausfuehrung 157 decor. The piece presents a striking profile featuring a bulbous upper shoulder, a tapered base, a flared foot, and a distinct contrast blue rim at the top opening. Vertical applied dark blue stripes run down the entire body of the vessel, accentuating its form against the smooth white glass surface. The base shows a rounded, stepped foot rim while the top exhibits a neatly finished dark blue edging. Standing at 25 cm high, the vase is well-proportioned for display. In a contemporary home, this item provides a decorative accent when placed on a sideboard top, mantelpiece or display cabinet. The clean linear decoration and monochrome contrast palette complement both modern and traditional interior schemes. The smooth finish allows for easy placement in living rooms, dining spaces or hallways where glass art can catch natural light. This functional container also serves as a focal point for floral arrangements or stands alone as an artistic display piece.

Secessionist glass design, arising around the turn of the 20th century in Austria and Bohemia, prioritised geometric forms, stylised linear patterns, and bold contrast over naturalistic Art Nouveau ornamentation.

Opal glass was manufactured by introducing opacifiers such as fluorides or bone ash into molten glass, producing a translucent white base decorated with applied coloured glass threading.

Authentic Loetz pieces are identified by specific decor reference numbers, documented shape catalogues, pontil finish, glass weight, and precise colour execution.

A Secessionist glass vase functions as a focal accent when placed on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece, complementing structured architectural lines and monochrome palettes.

Dust glass gently using a soft microfibre cloth and wash by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding chemical cleaners and dishwashers.
