Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Originating in France during the 1910s and flourishing internationally during the 1920s and 1930s, the Art Deco movement represented modernity, elegance, and technological progress, heavily utilising symmetrical geometric forms, streamlined silhouettes, and luxurious materials.

Art Deco cabinets typically feature solid wood frames with decorative veneers such as burr walnut, macassar ebony, or mahogany, often combined with glass sliding doors, chrome accents, and meticulous joinery to highlight natural wood grain patterns.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-specific construction techniques, such as traditional dovetail joints, genuine wood veneers over secondary hardwoods, Bakelite or metal hardware, and characteristic waterfall edges or geometric framing.

To integrate an Art Deco cabinet into a modern space, pair it with minimalist surroundings to let the striking wood grain and geometry stand out, or use it to display curated collections of glassware, ceramics, and books.

Preserve antique veneer by keeping the furniture out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintaining stable indoor humidity levels to avoid warping or cracking, and dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth without applying silicone-based polishes.
