A rummer is a heavy-bottomed, short-stemmed drinking glass popular in Britain during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, typically used for ale, wine, or punch.

These vessels were typically produced from lead glass using traditional blowing methods, followed by hand-cutting, wheel-engraving, or acid-etching for decorative motifs.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, slightly uneven thickness due to hand-blowing, and high lead content resulting in a clear ring when struck.

Display historical glassware within glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or on a sideboard where natural light can highlight the engraved details and clarity of the material.

Wash antique glass by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh abrasive sponges to prevent scratching or thermal shock.
