FAQs

Crystal wall sconces gained prominence in European homes during the 17th and 18th centuries, evolving from functional candleholders into decorative statements that maximized candlelight through reflective glass and crystal prisms.

Authentic period sconces typically feature hand-blown or pressed glass components, brass or bronze frames, and multi-faceted crystal drops held together by wire pins or loops.

Authentication involves inspecting the glass for bubbles, irregularities, and hand-cut facets, alongside examining the metal fixings and pin construction for signs of age and manual fabrication.

These fixtures can be mounted flanking a fireplace, mirror, or doorway to introduce textural contrast and reflective metallic gleam into contemporary spaces.

Clean components gently using a soft cloth and a mild solution of warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the metal or glass finish.
